Dr Melvin Chin MB BChir, MA, FRACP, PhD (Computational Biology)

Dr Melvin Chin is a medical oncologist at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and a clinician–scientist at the National Centre for Asbestos Related Diseases in Western Australia. Dr Chin specialises in mesothelioma, brain cancers, and head and neck cancers, with research focused on applying bioinformatics, artificial intelligence and computational approaches to identify biomarkers and predict treatment response.

He completed his medical degree at the University of Cambridge and has been recognised for his contributions to mesothelioma research and patient care, including receiving the Emeritus Professor Eric G. Saint Memorial Award.

A recipient of the Asbestos Diseases Society of Australia PhD scholarship and a current Raine Clinician Research Fellow, Dr Chin’s work is advancing precision approaches to improving outcomes for patients with rare, difficult-to-treat cancers.
