Clinicians submit relevant case information, which is reviewed through ARC Portal’s expert network. You will receive practical, evidence-informed guidance to support decision-making, while care remains with the treating clinician.
You’ll need to create an account in the ARC Portal if you do not already have one.
The first time you want to refer a specific patient, you need to log into your account and register your patient.
As part of the registration process, your patient must consent to participating in the ARC Portal by signing a Participant Information and Consent Form.
The ARC Portal has been approved to allow paper or online consent of patients from specialist’s rooms or hospitals, streamlining the process for referrers and patients.
Cases are submitted via your ARC Portal referrer account. The submission process is straightforward and designed to minimise administrative burden.
With all the relevant documentation assembled, the process to submit is around 10-15 minutes.
Before submitting, gather the key clinical information. The more complete your submission, the more specific the advice you will receive.
What to include:
You do not need to have everything before submitting. If key results are pending, note this in your submission. ARC Portal can work with what is available.
The ARC Portal team will review the referral and aim to deliver a report back to you in 2-4 weeks. Timeframes vary depending on the complexity of the case and the expertise required.
Depending on your patient, the report may include:
ARC Portal is designed as a collaborative model that works alongside local care teams to help clinicians move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
The advice you receive is yours to use as you see fit. ARC Portal supports your decision-making, but it does not direct it.
Care remains entirely with the treating clinician, always.
At 1, 6 and 18 months, we will conduct brief follow-up surveys by email. The intent of these surveys is to collect longitudinal data on rare cancer patients, assess the impact of our service, and allow you to provide us with feedback that could help to improve our service.
Please contact us at enquiries@arcportal.org.au if you require further assistance.
ARC Portal aims to provide guidance within a timeframe that is clinically meaningful. Urgent cases are prioritised. The complexity of the case and the availability of relevant specialists will influence the response time.
When you submit a case, you will receive an acknowledgement and an indication of expected timeframe. If your clinical situation is time-sensitive, note this clearly in your submission.
Depending on the complexity of your case, you can expect to receive a response within 4 weeks.
